Are you part of the
problem?

Each Front Range resident produced about 6 pounds of landfilled trash per day in 2019. More than one ton in a year!

are you part of the
solution?

Say no to single-use plastics, participate in recycling collection, and support the launching of Pikes Peak Recycling!
Using recycled plastic saves up to 88% of energy compared with virgin materials. Using recycled glass only saves 25% of energy and yet, the recycling rate of glass is higher than that of plastic.

OUR GOAL

Let's make 2024 the year when we start recycling our plastic waste locally

stage 1

Polypropylene
Polypropylene, PP or Resin #5, is recycled at an estimated rate of 1% worldwide. We are committed to collect and in-house recycle those PP items that are currently being landfilled after a single use such as straws and cup lids.

stage 2

Polyethylene
Polyethylene, PE or Resin #2 and #4, is widely used in films and grocery bags. But these items are not accepted in curbside bins. We will collect and in-house recycle polyethylene bags and film, and six-pack rings as well.

stage 3

Clothing
It is estimated that 65% of our clothes are made of synthetic fibers, mainly polyester. Polyester is also known as Polyethylene Terephthalate, PET or PETE, Resin #1. We will collect and in-house recycle polyester garments.
